“imi”, is an isiZulu prefix which means tribe or many. Haha, hehe, huhu or any number of repetitions of ha, he or hu are known as expressions of happiness, comparable to the sound of pulsating laughter and curious giggles. The name imiHuhu is a combination of both; created to reference a legendary laughing tribe. Headquartered in Jozi, South Africa, we focus on locally made gear for kids aged 1 – 12, where each element creatively illustrates the essence of laughter by boldly depicting the most popular games played by young adventure seekers across the continent. From a few steps away, contrasting colourways and abstract graphics look like vibrant, ethnic patterns and shapes, but lean in a little closer and an exciting playful plot twist is uncovered, where fun filled tales of Eye Spy, Morabaraba, Hop Scotch, and Diketo are exposed like the hiders in an epic game of Hide and Seek.
Our tagline, Comfort Culture, echoes our commitment to preserving playground customs by putting freedom of movement and freedom of expression at the heart of every product. Empowering children through the power of play. Now that’s LIT.
